Oh! What a great rain we had
this mid September. Mid afternoon
No soft sprinkles drip, drip, dripping down
But large, heavy drops like
filled water balloons pelting
the Valley from thunderous clouds above;
and flashes of lightening
zig zagging across the sky
Standing outside it was only
a quick minute before my
Adidas sweatshirt and sweat pants
were soaked through and through
like someone had poured a bucket
of water on me
Puddles formed on the graveled ground
and not a bird could be heard, or found;
Sheltered away somewhere in the
branches of leafy trees
Oh! What a great rain
we had today. A nice reprieve
from heat of the summer
Refreshing the land, new
life to conceive
